Authorized Transmissions in LaGrange Ohio business signAt Authorized Transmissions, it's all about integrity, quality, and automotive repairs that customers can count on. In today's transmission shop spotlight, we're featuring Authorized Transmissions, a small town auto repair and maintenance shop in LaGrange, Ohio. The technicians at Authorized Transmissions were proud to talk about their values as a repair shop and as a local business.

AUTHORIZED TRANSMISSIONS: ALL ABOUT SERVICE

Opened in 1994, Authorized Transmissions offers a variety of services from basic maintenance like fluid and filter changes to heavy repairs like transmission rebuilds. This full-service shop recognizes what's really behind the work that they do: their customers. Authorized Transmissions knows that people rely on their cars for the freedom to carry out their everyday lives — "traveling to and from work, buying groceries, and picking up the children from school." The shop focuses on providing that freedom and peace of mind through quality repairs and service.

Dave Liller owner of Authorized TransmissionsAs self-proclaimed "car people," the team of certified technicians at Authorized Transmissions is led by owner Dave Liller, who has been rebuilding transmissions since he was about 15 at his father's auto shop. Dave runs the day to day operations in the shop while also rebuilding transmissions. He says, "Anything that goes on in the shop, I have my hands in it somehow." One of the main rebuilders on the team is Jason, who has been working at Authorized Transmissions for 16 years and rebuilding for 11.

Authorized Transmissions leads its business with its values. Honesty is first and foremost in every practice, ensuring that customers are charged competitive prices and aren't surprised by added costs or unnecessary work. Productivity and time management are also cornerstones of the team's process, with respect for the customer's needs.

The walls of Authorized Transmissions are decorated with a collection of vintage signage and popular brand memorabilia. The fun, lighthearted environment of the shop is enough to make anyone feel at home inside its doors — and the popcorn and slushie machines don't hurt, either.

WHY AUTHORIZED TRANSMISSIONS CHOOSES TRANSTEC REBUILD KITS

When customers come first, rebuilding a transmission right the first time is any shop's number one goal. In his many years of rebuilding, Dave has learned that you simply can't do a correct, complete repair without the right rebuild kit. He said, "I would expect to see a lot of comebacks with using a lesser quality kit." With some sealing brands, getting the correct application kit is impossible overall, which results in another waiting game. "Tying up a lift and taking too long for a repair slows everything down, the whole process," he said. In short, Dave needs quality parts from the very start of every rebuild.

"If we didn't have what we needed, we might have to call dealer, that takes time and costs more." Effectively, incomplete kits shut down productivity in the shop. When a seal kit is incomplete, rebuilders have to research the right parts and wait for them to arrive instead of getting the vehicle out the door.

However, Authorized Transmissions solves all of these rebuilding challenges by simply asking for TransTec brand kits for every rebuild in the shop. When it comes to quality, Dave puts his trust in TransTec brand kits:

"The benefit of having the OE components in the kit is knowing you’re replacing every part with exactly what came out of it, and if you had a 100k mile transmission, you would be confident that you’ll get that same mileage out of the rebuild."

Complete kits are no concern for Dave anymore. He said, "when something’s missing, you find yourself questioning yourself when you're actually questioning the quality of the kit. We dont have that problem with the TransTec kit."

Jason the rebuilder at Authorized TransmissionsDave, Jason, and the rest of their team can get to rebuilding as soon as a transmission comes in the door, thanks to TransTec's superior vehicle coverage. "TransTec kits cover a wide range of all transmissions including late model. You can order a TransTec kit for whatever you’re working on and they're gonna have it available," said Jason. Dave agrees, noting that TransTec is ahead of the industry in terms of kit development: "We can cover any vehicle with TransTec kits because they're releasing new kits every day, even for late-model cars we’re not working on yet."

With values and customers at the heart of its business, Authorized Transmissions provides service its community can depend on. And in order to support that service, Authorized Transmissions relies on its partnership with TransTec. Jason sums it up this way: "Theres no doubt in my mind that TransTec will have what I need, when I need it — late model, early model, it doesn't matter. I always rely on TransTec."
